I come from a
home that is dysfunctional being polygamous. As a result, I know a little of
the pain and burden borne by children from such home. I would not want any of my
children to experience such dysfunction.
I have therefore resolved to avoid
anything close to it at any cost, with God helping me.
I also know of
children who were raised by a single parents or worse still, just by a
relative. This is not because they were orphans but because the devil
successfully lied to the couples that are supposed to be one for the rest of
their lives that they will be happier separated.
They were deceived to believe
that the noble responsibility of their commitment to their spouse and family is
the source of their trouble and sorrow. So they opted for divorce not minding
the devastation that such action would leave in the lives of the children the
Lord has committed to their care.
Another source
of such malady isaccidental parents – youths who become fathers and mothers ill
prepared. These ones are just too selfishly engrossed in indulging themselves
in untimely pleasures that they careless that such may result in painful
development for innocent children they will bring into the world without mutual
agreement and plan to cater for them.
God designed for
children to grow under the loving care of their mother and father. Both parents
make an ideal home and will produce a balanced child. No matter how weak or
strong the mother or the father is, they are better together and worse
separated, when the impact on child or children upbringing is considered.
Raising a child by either of the two will produce a deficient child on the long
run.
I believe the
whole lot of the problem we face today in our society are by-products of broken
marriages and dysfunctional homes. They are the price we are paying for
ignoring the one who instituted marriage, gave us homes and the rules to run
them. The earlier we return to Him and His manual for life and family, the
better.
