CAREER GUIDE: WANT TO BECOME A POLITICIAN?


Have you got any interest in politics, and wish to become one? Here are six basic steps to take to becoming one;
Step One: Obtain your five O’ Level credits in the following subjects English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Government. You might have to develop special interest in Government to enable you know more about what the structure of governance is. And you must stay abreast with development in the country daily from politics to economics.
Step Two: Pursue your first degree preferably in Political Science. Almost all the Universities in Nigeria actually offer the course. And it is paramount to get a degree even though it mustn’t necessarily be in Political Science that will help you grounded in previous and current trend in politics.

Step Three: You might have to become visible in your local community before hitting the larger scene either at state of federal level. It is important you engage in your community by working as a volunteer or committee with a registered political party. That is where your name and brand will start growing from. You can also engage in some community services for your people at the local level and get to familiarize yourself with them.
Step Four: Practice Public Speaking at Local Events: if you have to excel as a politician then there is one attribute of a leader you have to master which is communication not just one on one but also in public. So you might have to learn to speak in public, carry yourself, and communicate to the least person in the simplest language he/she can understand. That is to communicate your vision to the people.

Step Five: Research your objectives and plans for your community
Step Six: build your campaign train and even after try the first time without achieving victory learn to try again and even better with the spirit of sportsmanship.
