Our Role Model: Mo Abudu

Mosunmola Abudu, usually known as Mo Abudu, is a Nigerian media mogul, media personality, philanthropist, and former human resources management consultant. She has been described by Forbes as "Africa's Most Successful Woman". Born 11th September, 1964 in London, United Kingdom. She has a son and a daughter and was formerly married to Tokunbo Abudu

Abudu was born in the United Kingdom. At age seven, her family relocated to Lagos, where she was sent to stay with her grandparents at their cocoa farm in Ondo State, to learn about Nigerian culture. At age 11, she attended Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School. At 12, shortly after her father died, Abudu returned to the UK and attended Hammersmith County Secondary School before moving to the Ridgeway School in Kent where she lived with her guardian in Tunbridge Wells. From there, she went to West Kent College and MidKent College.

Guests have included celebrities, Presidents, Nobel Laureates, and the 67th US Secretary-of-State Hillary Clinton, Abudu says the show "highlights the life and accomplishments of a usually well known, but sometimes an undiscovered African individual who by his or her own tenacity and determination has accomplished something, overcome something or been a catalyst for something that makes her or him a role model to others."

Aired on M-Net with TV coverage in 48 African countries, the show now also airs on terrestrial and cable TV in other parts of the world.

The show's success and intention to change the world's perception of the African continent has led to comparisons to Oprah Winfrey, with The Independent and Slate Afrique calling her "Africa's Oprah" or "Nigerian Winfrey", respectively. The Debaters

Abudu is the creator and executive producer of The Debaters, a Reality television show. Funded by Guaranty Trust Bank, it launched on 3 October 2009. The show focuses on "giving Africa a voice" by promoting oratory.

Inspire Africa Foundation: Abudu is the founder of The Inspire Africa Foundation, a human investment arm of Inspire Africa Ltd. It is a non-profit organisation focused on raising funds to implement society-transforming initiatives.

In January 2009, the Inspire Africa Foundation alongside Moments with Mo, the Lagos State Government and UNICEF held a telethon and a charity benefit concert with the theme "Rock with a Conscience". Donations from the concert have gone towards the protection of street children.

Projects: The Foundation has opened a charity store branded "The Designers Outlet for Charity", which opened on 5 December 2009 in Lagos. The foundation is also developing a children's shelter called "The Harbour".

Recognition: Forbes Media recognised Abudu as the first African woman to own a Pan-Africa TV channel (2013). She was listed as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Global TV by The Hollywood Reporter in (2013) and received the Entrepreneur of the Year award by Women Werk in New York (2014). In 2014, she was honoured with an honorary doctorate (Honouris Causa) from Babcock University.

Yemat International Catering School 2017 Review

The year 2017 presented mixed feelings for most Nigerians and Yemat Int’l Catering School is not an exception, the highs and the lows, which truly makes up the spice of life. As an institution, we were able to hold our regular six star programmes alongside our vocational trainings. The six (6) programmes were; the annual cultural day which was held on 8^th July 2017 which happens to be the third consecutive edition at the school premises and it witnessed a great turn out. The final exam was also held on 5^th August, 2017 where the graduating students showed off some of the many cooking skills and craft they’ve learnt with their loved ones on ground to have a feel of their handy work. The regular courtesy visit to the less privileged home at The Heart of Gold, Onilegogoro, Surulere, Lagos took place on 7^th December, 2017 to also celebrate with these special people. The main event was the traditional annual graduation ceremony which doubled last year as the institution cross the decade mark as she celebrates her tenth anniversary with the graduating students making the event a remarkable one. It took place on Monday 2^nd, October, 2017 at St. Annes’ Catholic Church, Itire, Surulere, Lagos. The glamour was second to none and a stepping stone to greater heights in 2018. The year 2017 ended on a celebration note as the institution held her annual end of the year party on 14^th December, 2017 @ the school premises also.

Despite all the amazing programmes held in 2017 and the wonderful testimonies pouring in, the management of Yemat Int’l Catering School is not resting on her achievement. According to the M.D. / CEO Yemat Int’l Catering Institute Miss Yetunde Owolabi, the institution is hoping to keep improving on her achievements and hopefully add some more as the institution crosses into 2018.

The institution’s calendar for 2018 will be officially unveiled soon with other necessary details to the masses delight.

YEMAT INTERNATIONAL CATERING SCHOOL CLOCKS 10 AND CELEBRATES HER 10TH GRADUATING STUDENT IN STYLE

It was a double celebration for Yemat International Catering School as the foremost vocational institute marked her 10^th year of existence and also celebrated her 10^th graduating students on the same day being Monday 2^nd October, 2017 at St. Annes Catholic Church, 17-19 Sariyu Street, by Otun Oba Bus Stop, Itire, Surulere, Lagos.

It was truly a colourful day as family members, friends and well wishers of the graduating students as well as the guests of Yemat International School were all on ground to celebrate with the twenty (20) graduating student on the tenth anniversary. The MC’s that stirred the ship for the day.

The co-publisher of Edulight Magazine and PR person of the institution Master Chijioke Kenneth Uzoanya lead with an opening prayer as everyone was seated. The event then kicked off with the red carpet session which was exclusively covered by Moshab press to the delight of everyone seated.

The brain and beauty behind the whole show M.D/CEO of Yemat International Catering School Miss Yetunde Owolabi, then stepped in with an amazing welcome by the graduating students and the guests. She went on to appreciate everyone and thanked them for coming. She also gave her welcome speech as the guest all felt at home to get the ball rolling.

Dignitaries on the high table did include Rev. Father. Victor Eke, HRH Oba Kalejaiye, Oba of Apapa Land, father of the day Pa Owolabi, the past Miss Yemat and the proprietor of Marjos International Group of Schools.

Students of Yemat were on ground with breadth taking dance performances, welcome song and drama representing our true culture and tradition. Following closely was the cake exhibition by the graduating students. Unveling of the institutions calendar, unveiling of the institutions logo and finally the emergence of new face of Yemat International Catering School i.e. New Miss Yemat for 2017/2018 set

The evening was apt and the both the graduating students and the invited guest were indeed pleased with the organization.

REMMYGRACE COLLEGE, IKORODU EMERGE AS CHAMPION OF THE EDULIGHT SPELLING BOUT (ESB) 2017, 2ND EDITION FOR COLLEGE

The second edition of ESB 2017 for college may have come and gone but the memory it left behind will linger on the minds of the contestants and attendees as one event for reference. The event which was held on Wednesday 22nd, March, 2017 at The Hedges Place, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) saw Remmygrace College from Ikorodu come tops after pulling an astonishing performance at the preliminaries in Ikorodu came better prepared and stole the show. While Tomvic Comprehensive College from Mushin zone who arrived at the very last minute of the competition came in strong and emerged as the first runners-up and The Great Esteem School, Surulere as the second runners-up. The event which lasted for five hours kept everyone at the edge of their sits. All contestants after going through two stages equally then the knock out stage activated the competitive atmosphere. 
Shoms Int’l School, Surulere and Bachel Model College, Ikotun who were both first and second runners-up at the maiden edition also were on ground to defend their title or better their performance. But the other 39 contestants had their arsenal equipped. After the first two stages, the knock out stage rolled off with so much confidence, composure and comportment from the contestants and that triggered the atmosphere and an impressive spelling skill displayed by the contestants. The teachers and other guests seated kept asking for more. Mr. Kingsley Ohaeri was the moderator while Mrs. Alaba was the time keeper of the day. Cyril Justus an IT expert and CEO of whiznet presented the first and second runners-up medals and trophies while Mr. Kingsley Ohaeri presented the champion their medals and trophy.
The representatives from the various schools that emerged winners;  1st Remmygrace College (Taiwo Deborah SS3 & Etti Gbemisola SS3), 2nd Tomvic Comprehensive College (Deborah Thomas SS1 & Ebuka Beluchi SS2), 3rd The Great Esteem School (Eden Emmaneul SS2 & Awosemo Rhoda SS2) were overwhelmed with joy and could not hold back their excitement. 
The organizers also has made the top three winners the official face of Edulgiht Magazine for final term in 2017 both on the cover page of the magazine and on the mini billboard that will be given to the their respective schools. Other contestants who did not go back to their respective schools with any trophy left the hall with their heads held up high and were impressed with the organization. Majority of the contestants promised to return next year better prepared and hopefully take home the trophy.
The organizers of Edulight Spelling Bout did appreciate all the partners that supported from the preliminary stages to the state finals namely: Moshab Press, Yemat Int’l Catering Institute, Easy Multi-Media, De Pathfinder’s Educational Consult and all volunteers, and did state that all hands are on deck to kick start the second edition for Primary schools within Lagos before the end of 2017.
