REMMYGRACE COLLEGE, IKORODU EMERGE AS CHAMPION OF THE EDULIGHT SPELLING BOUT (ESB) 2017, 2ND EDITION FOR COLLEGE








The second edition of ESB 2017 for college may have come and gone but the memory it left behind will linger on the minds of the contestants and attendees as one event for reference. The event which was held on Wednesday 22nd, March, 2017 at The Hedges Place, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) saw Remmygrace College from Ikorodu come tops after pulling an astonishing performance at the preliminaries in Ikorodu came better prepared and stole the show. While Tomvic Comprehensive College from Mushin zone who arrived at the very last minute of the competition came in strong and emerged as the first runners-up and The Great Esteem School, Surulere as the second runners-up. The event which lasted for five hours kept everyone at the edge of their sits. All contestants after going through two stages equally then the knock out stage activated the competitive atmosphere. 
Shoms Int’l School, Surulere and Bachel Model College, Ikotun who were both first and second runners-up at the maiden edition also were on ground to defend their title or better their performance. But the other 39 contestants had their arsenal equipped. After the first two stages, the knock out stage rolled off with so much confidence, composure and comportment from the contestants and that triggered the atmosphere and an impressive spelling skill displayed by the contestants. The teachers and other guests seated kept asking for more. Mr. Kingsley Ohaeri was the moderator while Mrs. Alaba was the time keeper of the day. Cyril Justus an IT expert and CEO of whiznet presented the first and second runners-up medals and trophies while Mr. Kingsley Ohaeri presented the champion their medals and trophy.
The representatives from the various schools that emerged winners;  1st Remmygrace College (Taiwo Deborah SS3 & Etti Gbemisola SS3), 2nd Tomvic Comprehensive College (Deborah Thomas SS1 & Ebuka Beluchi SS2), 3rd The Great Esteem School (Eden Emmaneul SS2 & Awosemo Rhoda SS2) were overwhelmed with joy and could not hold back their excitement. 
The organizers also has made the top three winners the official face of Edulgiht Magazine for final term in 2017 both on the cover page of the magazine and on the mini billboard that will be given to the their respective schools. Other contestants who did not go back to their respective schools with any trophy left the hall with their heads held up high and were impressed with the organization. Majority of the contestants promised to return next year better prepared and hopefully take home the trophy.

Edulight spelling bout 2017 for colleges train moves to ikorodu with fifteen (15) qualifiers from that zone




An event that will forever linger in the minds of the contestants in Ikorodu as contestants around the Local Government Area came together to test their spelling and pronunciation skills. In addition they had the opportunity to build their confidence, composure and comportment each time they stepped forward to spell.
The event which debuted in Ikorodu was held on Wednesday 1st, March, 2017 at The Saints Int’l School, Igbo Olomu Road, Ishawo Road, Ikorodu, Lagos also witnessed sixteen (16) contestants present, one of them was dropped for lateness, leaving us with fifteen (15) contestants and after a brilliant display they all made it to the state finals and are all geared up for the competition ahead.

10 contestants scale through to the state finals at the Ikotun zone of edulight spelling bout 2017 for colleges




Despite the low turnout in Ikotun, the contestants present had a great time, competing and preparing themselves for the state finals. The ten contestants present performed extraordinarily as everyone seated in the hall applauded one another in the spirit of true sportsmanship and congratulated one another for a brilliant performance.
The event was held on Friday 3rd March, 2017 at Bachel Model College, Ikotun, Lagos with all the contestants qualifying for the final stage.

20 contestants made it to the state finals from mushin zone at the preliminaries of EDULIGHT SPELLING BOUT 2017 for COLLEGES




Contestants in Mushin Local Government Area gathered together on Wednesday 22nd, 2017 at the Prince Heirs’ College, 153, Itire/Mushin Road, Oja Bust Stop, Itire Road Mushin to compete fairly for slots at the Edulight Spelling Bout State finals. The event had 21 contestants present to do battle and after a fair competition 20 contestants from various schools scaled through to the State finals.
The show which lasted for 4 hours created a fair competition and level playing ground for the contestants. Everyone present had a great time and look forward to an exciting state final to be held on their ground. The maiden edition of the zoning of ESB in 2017 kicked off with the Surulere Zone with 28 contestants on ground to slog it out for the ticket to the State finals. The event witnessed an exciting and fun filled atmosphere with the contestants showing their worth on stage.  Following the preliminaries of the Edulight Spelling Bout held on Friday, 10th February 2017 at Tummy Yummy Eatery, 183, Ijesha Road, by Ogunlana Bus Stop, Ijesha Road, Lagos State for Surulere zone.
